Announcing Indo-Pacific Orientation Course (IPOC) 21-1
The Indo-Pacific Orientation Course (IPOC) 21-1 is scheduled from Feb. 22-26, 2021. IPOC prepares U.S. security practitioners and partner nations to knowledgeably engage in cooperative security efforts that build capacity to advance a free and open Indo-Pacific. This five-day course will execute in hybrid with four days online and one day in-resident for Oahu-based participants; all others participants will be integrated into their seminars while conducting the course exclusively online. Center renames auditorium after the late Lt. Gen. Stackpole
DKI APCSS Director Pete Gumataotao hosted the event honoring Lt. Gen. Stackpole and all that he brought to the Center. Chief of Regional Engagement Operations Lenore Patton and Chief of Admissions Tom Patykula Family members and invited guests applaud Mrs. Vivien Stackpole for demonstrating courage and resolve at the loss of her late husband. Webinar highlights the Indo-Pacific Region through Hindsight, Insight, and Foresight
The Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) hosted a special webinar in September to commemorate our 25th anniversary under the theme -- "Hindsight, Insight, Foresight: Celebrating a Legacy to Educate, Connect and Empower." The webinar titled “Bridging the Past with the Future” was hosted by Dr. Elizabeth Kunce and Dr. John Hemmings. The event included two panels featuring expert speakers from within the DKI APCSS alumni network and beyond with dialogue that covered the region's collective achievements, current challenges, and imagined future of security in the region across the next 25 years. DKI APCSS achieves candidate status for accreditation
The Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies is a Candidate for Accreditation with the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. The Council on Occupational Education is a U.S. Department of Education recognized national accrediting body. Accreditation is a rigorous process of self- and peer-review for improvement of academic quality and public accountability. News Media Policy Fostering good relations with the news media and providing for a free flow of public information is vital to the Asia-Pacific Center's programs and to our conference co-sponsors, speakers and presenters and to our participants as well. We work with our co-sponsors to ensure we jointly support good relations with the media and make relevant information available to the public while preserving the Center's policy of non-attribution in conference sessions.
