LTC SEAN BODE Portrait

Lt. Col. Sean Bode was commissioned into the infantry in 2005. He transitioned to the Adjutant General Corps and the Active Guard Reserve in 2019 and has served in various leadership and staff positions throughout his 21-year career.

Bode is currently an Army Broadening Opportunity Fellow at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu. Before assuming this role, he served as chief of Reserve Affairs in the J1 of Special Operations Command South; deputy of the U.S. Army Reserve Command G1 Adjutant General Division at Fort Liberty, North Carolina; senior ROTC assistant professor of military science; Headquarters and Headquarters Company commander; and an infantry platoon leader with the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.

In the civilian sector, Bode worked as a regional manager with Aldi grocery stores from 2009 to 2012. He later served as a human resources business partner supporting Disney World Resorts from 2012 to 2017.

Bode deployed to Iraq for 15 months in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2007 to 2008. His military education includes the Command and General Staff College, the Human Resources Management Qualification Course, the Maneuver Captain Career Course, the Infantry Officer Basic Course, and the Basic Officer Course. He is scheduled to complete the Joint and Combined Warfighting School-Hybrid on Nov. 22, 2024, and will begin the U.S. Army War College Distance Education Program in July 2025.

Bode earned a bachelor’s degree in leadership studies from the University of Richmond and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University.

His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.

He is an avid hiker and enjoys exploring different cultures through travel.
