Colonel Ryan M. Case is originally from Washington, Massachusetts. He was commissioned in 2003 from the US Army Officer Candidate School as an Infantry Officer after graduating from Saint Michael’s College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Following completion of training at Fort Benning, he was assigned to 2-87 IN at Fort Drum, NY from 2004 to 2007, including its deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom.

Colonel Case has held a variety of command and staff positions throughout his career, beginning as Assistant Brigade Operations Officer for 3-2 SBCT at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, in 2008, followed by command of C/52 IN (AT) and A/5-20 IN, the latter including a deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom. He later served as a Small Group Leader at the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General of the 7th Infantry Division, and completed both the Command and General Staff College and the Advanced Military Studies Program, earning a Master’s in Military Art and Science. From 2016–2020, he served with the 25th Infantry Division in multiple roles, including Division Maneuver Planner, Battalion Operations Officer, and Brigade Operations Officer, and deployed to Afghanistan as Executive Officer to the Director of the Ministerial Advisory Group—Defense. He subsequently served as Infantry Human Resource Manager at the Colonels Management Office in Washington, DC, commanded 1-27 IN “Wolfhounds” from 2022–2024, and most recently was Division Operations Officer for the 2nd Infantry Division (RoK-US Combined Division) in the Republic of Korea.

COL Case’s major awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2), the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device, the Purple Heart, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (5), the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (4), the Korea Defense Service Medal, the NATO Medal (2), the Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, the Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award, the Ranger Tab, the Jungle Tab, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
