Major Kyle J. “Slash” Brown joined DKI APCSS as an Air Force Fellow in 2024. Before this, he was the F-22 Branch Chief assigned to the Combat Forces Division, Air Combat Command (ACC), Joint Base Langley-Eustis. He is the Air Force’s F-22 subject matter expert, leading the plans and requirements to ensure U.S. Air Superiority. He managed billions in research and procurement across the Future Years Defense Program and directed National Security Strategy implementation for the F-22. He oversaw ACC-level budgeting, testing, training, and sustainment while advising Headquarters Air Force and Joint Staff on airpower strategies.

Maj. Brown is a distinguished United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps graduate at the University of Delaware and was commissioned in May 2012. He was then selected to attend Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance Air Force Base (AFB), earning a coveted follow-on assignment and attending the F-22 Formal Training Unit at Tyndall AFB. Throughout his career, Maj. Brown has served in notable positions, including flying and instructing in the F-22 as part of the 27th Fighter Squadron “Fightin’ Eagles” at Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE), and the 90th Fighter Squadron “Dicemen” at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER). He led the celebrated revival of “William Tell 2023,” which united over 800 personnel and 54 aircraft in a historic air superiority competition and has facilitated multiple INDOPACOM deployments to Australia, South Korea, Japan, and Guam. Maj. Brown flew combat support missions during Operation INHERENT RESOLVE and Operation AGGRESSIVE PROTECTOR and spent hundreds of hours supporting Operation NOBLE EAGLE and Aerospace Control Alert to defend the Alaskan coast.

Maj. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Operations Management from the University of Delaware in 2012 and a Master of Science in Space Studies from American Military University in 2019. He also completed the Squadron Officer School in residence at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, in 2019 and the U.S. Air Force Fighter Weapons Instructor Course at Nellis AFB, Nevada, in 2020. His major awards and decorations include the Aerial Achievement Medal, the Air and Space Commendation Medal with an oak leaf cluster, and the Air and Space Achievement Medal. Among his notable achievements, he was a Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Air Force ROTC in 2012 and the Squadron Officer School in 2019. In 2024, Brown was named the Air Combat Command 589 Field Grade Officer of the Year and received the General Mark A. Welsh “One Air Force” Award.
