Work begins this week to install Photovoltaic (PV) panels on the roof of two buildings at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Ft. DeRussy.  This project to generate renewable energy supports of both the U.S. Department of Defense and State of Hawaii renewable energy goals.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the $2.19 million project to Elite Pacific Construction, Inc.  May 9, 2014 (Design Bid-Build contract W9128A-13-R-0010).  The contractor will begin staging equipment on Thursday, Dec. 11 with excavation starting on Dec. 15.   The project is expected last until March 2015.

Work will be done during normal working hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some Saturday work, when necessary.  Construction will be done inside the APCSS campus fence line, however, a portion of the park area will be fenced off to support equipment staging.  That area will be unfenced upon the project’s completion.

We ask our neighbors to please exercise caution when traversing through the area between APCSS and the Hale Koa parking garage.  At times, this area may be blocked for safety reasons.
