A Warm Welcome
The Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) is a U.S. Department of War (DoW) regional center dedicated to advancing solutions to Indo-Pacific security challenges.
DKI APCSS brings together military and civilian security practitioners from across the region for executive education and outcome-oriented programming, fostering collaborative solutions to shared challenges in support of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
Our Mission
DKI APCSS strengthens regional deterrence by educating, connecting, and empowering U.S., ally, and partner security practitioners to foster solutions for complex security challenges in the Indo-Pacific.
Our Vision
DKI APCSS is the premier intellectual platform to solve Indo-Pacific security challenges.
DKI APCSS educates, connects, and empowers security practitioners to cultivate collaborative problem-solving for both traditional and emerging security challenges. Our work fosters a shared understanding of the security landscape across countries, ministries, and organizations, encouraging collaboration efforts toward our common goal of regional stability.
The Center operates under the policy guidance of the Office of the Secretary of War for Policy (OSW(P)) and partners closely with U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) as its primary mission partner, with administrative support from the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
Opened on Sept. 4, 1995, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the Center is named in honor of Senator Daniel K. Inouye. It reflects his enduring legacy of leadership and steadfast commitment to peace by empowering leaders to address complex security issues through education and collaboration.
