DKI APCSS Supports the 5th Thai Senior Security Studies Program

The Royal Thai Armed Forces’ Strategic Studies Center of the National Defense Studies Institute (NDSI) recently hosted the fifth Senior Security Studies Program (SSSP). The intensive, one-week course for senior Thai security sector leaders was held in Bangsaen, Chonburi, and focused on the impact of regional changes and the capacity of leaders and institutions to manage those changes. Two faculty members from the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) once again participated in the course.

DKI APCSS Director, Pete Gumataotao led a delegation of Center faculty and staff through a visit to Thailand. The Royal Thai Armed Forces’ Strategic Studies Center of the National Defence Studies Institute hosted their second Senior Security Studies Program, May 17-21, 2021, in Bangkok.  The intensive one-week program for senior Thai security sector leaders emphasized key geopolitical and security trends in the region as well as capacities to manage these for both leaders and institutions.  Center leadership and faculty members from The Daniel K. Building on its longstanding cooperation with the Royal Thai Armed Forces’ National Defence Studies Institute, Strategic Studies Center (SSC), on April 8 DKI APCSS contributed to SSC’s “Strategist” course for mid-level Thai national security practitioners.  DKI APCSS Senior Diplomatic Fellow, Henry M. Twenty-one participants from a variety of government organizations including the Ministry of Defense and Royal Thai Police attended the course.
