APCSS Director visits Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand

APCSS Director, retired Army Lt. Gen. Ed Smith, recently completed a trip to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.  The trip focused on marketing current Honolulu-based and future Outreach program opportunities in each country, as well as discussions about course development and recruitment. It was also a chance for Lt. Gen. Smith the meet up with a number of APCSS Alumni. The first stop was Indonesia where Lt. Gen. Dr. Berlin visits India

In December, APCSS professor Dr. Donald Berlin  visited India as part of the United States Department of State U.S. Speaker and Specialist Program.  The program is intended to inform  and engage international audiences about U.S. policy and society. Dr. Berlin addressed various audiences and participated in media interviews while visiting Mumbai, Goa, Kochi, Kottayam, Chennai and Kokata.  Topics included maritime security, nuclear weapons, Indo-U.S. relations, and Indian Ocean geopolitics. 24 Graduate from Asia-Pacific Security Foundations Course

HONOLULU – The Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies successfully graduated 30 Fellows from the “Stability, Security, Transition, and Reconstruction Course” in Honolulu.  This is the second time APCSS has hosted the course. APCSS Director visits Pakistan and Bangladesh

APCSS director retired Army Lt. Gen. Ed Smith recently visited Pakistan and Bangladesh to discuss upcoming events and opportunities as well as get feedback on APCSS programs. The 10-day trip took place in September with positive results. According to Lt. Gen. APCSS courses undergo name changes

What's in a name?  The Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies has changed the name of three courses in order to better portray their topical areas.  The following changes are taking effect immediately: Senior Executive Course (SEC) is now referred to as the Senior Executive Course: Transnational Security Cooperation (TSC); Executive Course (EC) will be known as the Executive Course:Advanced Security Cooperation; Junior Executive Course (JEC) is now the Junior Executive Course: Asia-Pacific Security Foundations.  Update! The Junior Executive Course is now called the Asia-Pacific Orientation Course (APOC). Names of other APCSS courses will remain the same.

HONOLULU –   In September, 35 military officers and civilian officials graduated from the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies “Comprehensive Security Responses to Terrorism Course (CSRT)” in Honolulu.   The participants attending this three-week course were from 23 different countries.
