Dr. Rouben Azizian, Professor at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, participates in a round table meeting in Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On 16th of August 2005 a round-table with Dr. Rouben Azizian, Professor, Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, Honolulu, USA was held in Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

KISI experts, representatives of faculties of international relations of Kazakh National University and Kazakhstan University of International Relations and World Languages, experts of Institute of World Economy and Policy participated in the meeting.

Professor Azizian described the work of APCSS, main direction of its research and studies. He also told about interest that Central Asia represents to APCSS students. In his presentation Dr. Azizian shortly reviewed current situation in Asia Pacific Region, pointing out the conflict potential of nuclear threat on the Korean peninsula, the role and meaning of USA and PRC in the region.

During the meeting experts have raised broad range of issues related to regional security problems, rising potential of PRC and India, role and intentions of Russia in APR. Particular attention was paid to the possibility of academic cooperation of researchers from Central Asia and nations of APR.
