The Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) brought together senior-level security practitioners from more than 20 countries to explore transnational security issues and emerging challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. DKI APCSS professor Dr. Jeremiah Lumbaca and U.S. Navy Capt. Henry Saito led the group from June 23-28. The 27 participants engaged in discussions on topics such as economics, strategic competition, maritime security, space security, and cybersecurity. From December 4-9, the senior leaders received lectures on crucial security issues in the Indo-Pacific region. DKI APCSS faculty shed light on topics such as the U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy, the rise of China’s Xi Jinping, Information security, climate change, and security in the Arctic region. With each lecture, the Fellows found particular benefit from listening to the perspective of their cohorts.

Twenty-seven senior leaders from 27 locations completed the Transnational Security Cooperation course (TSC) 19-2 from Nov. 3-8 at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS). The course manager was Dr. Virginia Bacay Watson, and the course coordinator was Assoc. Prof. J. “Lumpy” Lumbaca. A TSC 19-2 Fellow works with other members of her table to consolidate their idea into consensus. Thirty-one senior leaders from 25 locations completed the Transnational Security Cooperation course (TSC) 19-1 from May 19-24 at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS). The course manager was Dr. Scott Hauger and the course coordinator was Maj. Alex Botardo. The course is offered twice a year to senior security practitioners from the whole-of-government and society at the vice-minister, ambassador, and senior military officer (one- to four-star rank) level.
