Inez Miyamoto

Dr. Inez Miyamoto joined the Daniel K. Inouye Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) in 2019. Prior to joining the DKI APCSS, Dr. Miyamoto was a special agent at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) where she led cyber investigative teams responding to a wide variety of crimes (i.e., intrusions, fraud, child pornography, intellectual property rights, and counterintelligence) and conducted strategic planning, risk analysis and compliance while at FBI Headquarters. Elizabeth Kunce joined the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) in September 2019. Dr. Kunce has supported the DKI APCSS crisis management portfolio. She has also served as co-lead with Dr. Miyamoto on a multi-year effort to build an integrated network of practitioners to understand the risks and harms arising in the digital information environment. Sam Mullins

Dr. Sam Mullins joined the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) in August 2019. Prior to joining DKI APCSS, Dr. Mullins spent the previous seven years as a professor of counter-terrorism at the George C. New paper on Synchronized Humanitarian, Military and Commercial Logistics

Several DKI APCS faculty members, past and present, have co-authored a paper entitled: “Synchronized Humanitarian, Military and Commercial Logistics: An Evolving Synergistic Partnership.” The paper was published on October 5, 2019, by the international journal Safety, and is authored by Pablo Yuste, James Campbell, Deon Canyon, Mark Childers, and Benjamin Ryan. “The military plays a growing role in supplementing and even leading humanitarian assistance and disaster relief logistics,” say the authors.  “However, issues relating to military involvement such as sovereignty and cost have refocused the conversation onto capabilities and capacities of commercial logistics providers, who have not been fully engaged and [...]

DKI APCSS Research Fellow Anu Anwar has a new article in the East Asia Forum entitled "How China is using tourists to realise its geopolitical goals (link is external)." Dr. John Hemmings is a professor at DKI APCSS' College of Security Studies, specializing in U.S. alliances and strategic competition, with a focus on technology and the defense industrial base. His expertise includes the U.S. alliance system, particularly Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic alliances. While his core area is Japan, he also lectures on European Indo-Pacific strategies and Chinese technology strategies.
